BECOMING A COACH

Thanks for supporting a Moorside Rangers team!

Before you can coach for Moorside Rangers, you need to complete a DBS, safeguarding and First Aid course.

PLEASE NOTE: YOU CAN’T COACH, SUPPORT A COACH, STAND ON THE COACHES SIDE ON A MATCHDAY OR TAKE ANY PART IN TRAINING UNTIL STEPS 1, 2 AND 3 ARE COMPLETE

Follow the instructions below:

Step 1: Complete a DBS

This has to be an FA DBS, even if you are DBS’d for your work or another organisation you have to apply for a new one from the FA

a). You need to be added on the club side as a DBS applicant, to do this you need to send your FA number and date of birth to one of our welfare officers. Charley on 07730788405 or Emma on 07581033332. If you don’t have an FA number, then you can create an account on thefa.com

b). Once added on the clubs side you need to log into whole game at https://wholegame.thefa.com/. On the left hand side you will see an icon that says “My DBS” click this then click start

c) Check your emails for an email from First Advantage disclosures. This is the company that does the check on the behalf of the FA. Find the email, click the link in the email and complete all the information requested.

d). In the form with First Advantage you will be asked to provide ID, this ID needs to be sent to one of our Welfare Officers to be verified.

e) Once the ID is verified you will get a final email asking for payment, the cost is £10 and you can claim this back from subs.

f) Wait until the check is complete, it takes 2-3 weeks normally, but there is a manual step with your local police station, so if they are busy then this may take a little longer.

Step 2: Complete Safeguarding for Children

The course can be found here https://learn.englandfootball.com/courses/safeguarding/safeguarding-children-course

This course is £30 and again can be claimed back from subs

Step 3: Complete Introduction to First Aid

The course can be found here https://learn.englandfootball.com/courses/medical/introduction-to-first-aid-in-football

This course is £30 and again can be claimed back from subs

Optional Step 4: Complete Introduction to Football

One coach from each team must have at least the introduction to football course, which is the new name for the FA level 1. If all coaches want to complete this, then that’s fine.

This course can’t be booked until you have completed all of the steps above but can be found here https://learn.englandfootball.com/courses/football/introduction-to-coaching-football
